Each year, our Physiotherapists gather from across South-East Queensland for the annual Allsports Symposium; a professional development seminar conducted by the Allsports Group. It is a vital means of maintaining the ongoing education of our therapists and is an important part of the work that we do as therapists.
Guest speakers drew their topics from a diverse range of medical specialities including: Dr David Melsom who spoke about the future of shoulder surgery in aspects of 3D printing, Dr Brett Collins on knee surgery and the indications for arthroscopes and ACL reconstructions, Mary Mitchell from Extend Rehabilitation spoke about traumatic elbow injuries and physiotherapy assessment and management, and Michel Coppieters discussed Neurodynamic tests and treatment strategies from the small neurosciences and building it into daily application in physiotherapy practice. The seminar was closed our own Allsports Physiotherapists and their current case studies: Kirsty Bright – “Low Back Pain – Pelvic Floor Strengthening is not always the answer”, Alice Miller – “12 year old recurrent ankle sprain – A red flag?”, and Erin Isaac – “Not another Hamstring”.
A big thank you to all our speakers for taking the time to keep us updated with the latest research regarding injuries, pathologies, treatment and rehabilitation options. This is a fundamental element in maintaining our expertise and leadership in the field of physiotherapy.
