Katrinka is a qualified Physiotherapist, a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, and Queensland representative for APA Animal Physiotherapy Group. She has recently completed her Masters’ Degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy.
Katrinka’s passion for animal rehabilitation led to the pursuit of a career in human physiotherapy, with the intention of transferring her physiotherapy skills to animal care. Katrinka worked in tertiary teaching hospitals in subacute rehabilitation, palliative care, surgical wards and outpatient practice before making the transition to Animal Physiotherapy in 2017. Katrinka is the director of Optima Animal Physio which provides services to small animal veterinary specialist centres, as well as performance dogs and horses. Katrinka has a special interest in postoperative rehabilitation following orthopaedic and spinal surgery, as well as treating performance dogs and horses. Katrinka is passionate about animal physiotherapy and its unique complement to veterinary medicine, and thrives on helping patients return to optimal function and performance.
Alongside her Animal Physiotherapy work, Katrinka complements her practice with human Musculoskeletal physiotherapy and enjoys helping people return to their valued life activities be it athletes to the every day individual.
Outside of physiotherapy, Katrinka is a keen sportswoman, competing in bike racing around the country. When not working or training, you are likely to find her exploring the great outdoors.
