Melissa is an APA Musculoskeletal and Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist with a special interest in working with para-athletes. Melissa was the program physiotherapist for the Australian Paracanoe Program from 2014-2016 and has been the team physiotherapist for a number of international tours including the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games and the 2014, 2015 and 2016 World Championships. Melissa is a keen sprinter and has a background in dance, which gives her a personal interest in running and dance related injuries. Melissa is the current Queensland Academy of Sport Sailing Program physiotherapist.
She has worked with the Queensland Academy of Sport Track and Field Program, and since 2012 has worked with the Queensland under 20 Athletics team at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships and Allschools Championships. In 2013 she was part of the medical team for the Australian Para-Athletics team for World Championships, and in 2017 she was the team physiotherapist for the Australian Junior Para-athletics team for World Championships. Melissa has also worked with the Queensland Gymnastics team for National Championships from 2012. Melissa has also done further training in Pilates and instructs physiotherapist-led classes in conjunction with her clinical patient load.
