Angela Thynne is an occupational therapist with over 25 years’ experience in the management of scarring and oedema following traumatic injuries, burns and surgery. She has run her private practice specialising in scarring and oedema for over 20 years, and has extensive experience in treating both adults and children with scarring and oedema. Her experience has been within both the private and public sectors, including clinical practice, research, teaching and training.
Angela is a credentialed private practitioner to the Professor Stuart Pegg Adult Burns Centre at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, as well as providing both in-rooms and home visiting private services. She is a lymphoedema trained therapist, and uses her background in lymphoedema and acute injury to holistically manage scarring and oedema. Angela is a clinical lecturer in scar and oedema management at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Queensland.
Angela is a past president of OT-Australia Qld; past board member of the Australian and New Zealand Burn Association; and past board member of the Occupational Therapists Board of Queensland. She is a current member of OT Australia, the Australian and New Zealand Burn Association, and the Australasian Lymphology Association. Angela is a regular presenter at national and international conferences in the area of traumatic scar and oedema, and her research interests are in burn scar treatment, assessment and impact of injury. She presents post-graduate training courses through professional associations in scar and post-traumatic oedema management. She is the co-coordinator of the Burns Rehabilitation Course of the Australian and New Zealand Burn Association.
Angela is passionate about the prevention and treatment of traumatic and surgical scarring. She has committed her professional life and ongoing professional training to the minimisation and management of scarring.
