Pre-Pointe Assessments are undertaken in the clinic by physiotherapists who have extensive experience in the dance industry at all levels. The assessment determines whether a young dancer is safe and ready to commence pointe work.
The assessment involves examining pointe range, foot control, abdominal control and turnout range whilst assessing the dancer’s technique, degree of hypermobility and overall body control. Areas of weakness and/or technique are identified.
A report will be written to detail assessment findings and shared with the dancer and relevant dance teacher.
Each assessment takes one hour in duration, allowing therapists to accurately assess and develop a tailored home program for each dancer.
